the Upriver project > the website project

the upriver-news.ca website project

The Upriver area of the Richibucto River is a wonderful area to live and visit.  It is a large and sparsely populated area, which is part of its charm but it also makes communication a little more difficult.  To inform about the the area, the events, the organisations including businesses in the spring of 2010 the Upriver News was printed and distributed the first time to local households.  But print is costly and therefore restricted in who it can reach and the quantity of information it can contain.

Internet is not without reason the fastest growing media.  It is virtually for free and it can present up-to-date information in a depth and multitude found nowhere else.  If a website is properly designed this information can also be found more easily than any other way. This was the reason why www.upriver-news.ca was created.  It is to supplement the printed version, by being more up-to-date, more in-depth, more easily researched, and always at the tips of your finger long after the printed version has disappeared.

This is a volunteer effort by the people of the Upriver community for the people of the Upriver community and their guests.  If you live in this area or are interested in it please become part of this effort.  It is a lot of work but also very rewarding.  Öffnet einen internen Link im aktuellen Fenster Please click here to find out more about how you can help.

The project got under way in May 2010.  So we are just starting.  We have set up the structure of the website, to show everybody what kind of information you will hopefully find here soon.  But to follow the menu to empty pages can be very frustrating.  This is why we have included a status page showing, where you will find content and where not.  Öffnet einen internen Link im aktuellen Fenster You can find the status page here.
