Future Plans

Much has been achieved - even more can be done, to profit other residents or the same with other things.  Some plans would really profit everybody, to good to be true, no it is.

The following is a list, which is not complete and not yet detailed.  These should follow shortly.   But we hope it will spark your interest.

• expansion of upriver-news.ca - this being, filling a topics with informative and easy to read texts, if possible in English and in French.  The addition of pictures and documents, the fine-tuning of the layout and the programming of the last functions.
• a business directory to encourage local residents to buy local first.  Included in the directory will not only be corporations and primary income businesses but also artisans and musicians, farmers selling to the public, care-givers for the elderly and children, etc.  Anything and anybody that provides a service and colour to the community we live in.  This directory is intended to be a resource to the community in other regards too,  It may therefore also include information on organisations and important contacts in our community.
• a country market (possibly on a coop-basis). 
• an annual business showcase allowing Upriver merchants, trades people, artists, professionals to introduce their products and services in a trade fair like setting to area residents, cottage owners and visitors and to people from the surrounding areas.  If well done and communicated this can draw large crowds, inform the visitors and create good contacts for the exhibitors. 
• a book a month programme for Upriver pre-school children in conjunction with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Foundation
• Upriver signage at all major roads to make people aware that we are more than separate villages, that we are indeed a community and for visitors to be directed to upriver-news.ca where they can find more information about events and resources / services offered by this area
• further events, workshops, courses etc for children, youth, adults and seniors, men and women, and always families.
