community
In our community live less than 5.000 people permanently, about 3.000 of these are members of the Elsipogtog First Nation living at Big Cove, the other 40% are spread out over 1.781 km² or 687 miles², that is almost exactly only one (1.04) residents per km², yet this is a real and vibrant community. There are 29 villages and hamlets including Big Cove.
As time allows and submissions come in, we would like to introduce to you not only the villages in text and pictures but also some of the people that lived in them or still do so, because the people make the difference.

if you are a visitor to this area please return at a later date, to find information and pictures you will not find elsewhere. So it is worth it. If you would like to keep in touch with this area please sign up for our newsletter and we will gladly mail it to you once a month or to selected news.
if you are a resident of the upriver area and would like to contribute pictures, texts or time to this effort of your community please contact the website administrator, Armin Arend, by
e-mail or call him at . For further information about how you can help us please click

in any case, please bear with us, we are chipping away at this big project for our community, the upriver area of the Richibucto River.
