New Brunswick Mat Registry / Linda MacDonald / 523-0896 /
The New Brunswick Mat Registry would like you to talk to your family members to find out who has any old mats which are over 25 years old, either made in NB or by a New Brunswicker.
The goal of the Mat Registry is to document these old mats, regardless of the condition they are in. Experts will look at them and document the material used, style hooked etc. They will be professionally photographed. Any information about the person who hooked the mat will be recorded. Then all of this information will be available to the public through a website.
There is no cost to you for bringing your mats to be registered. They will be assigned a specific number before you take them back home that day.
Please call Marsha MacDonald 523-0896 if you have any old hooked mats or know of someone else with them. Once we have enough people, a mat registry day can be organized in this area so that we can document the wonderful work that was done by our mothers and grandmothers, and sometimes grandfathers.
